Walsh X Universal Works Tornado

Universal Works has friends and partners all over the world, but for our latest collaboration we headed a little closer to home, to Bolton and the factory where Walsh still complete most of their processes.

Norman Walsh developed the TORNADO in the mid-to-late 1970s to meet the demands of athletes competing in major marathons and races across the globe. The shoe gained notable popularity during the 1983 London Marathon.

Brand

Universal Works

The company's first collection launched in 2009 with David Keyte (UW co-founder, director, designer) working from his kitchen table with an aim to make real, honest clothing based on fit and good design, though never over designed.
Universal Works was inspired by David’s formative years growing up in a provincial Midlands' town in the seventies, part of a working-class family that loved to dress well, seeing his Dad and Uncles in their workwear and also when dressing for the weekend.
